Miss IU 2012 Brianna McClellan and Miss IU Organization President Paige Geer share their stances on discrimination at the Student Involvement Fair.

Don’t miss this opportunity to compete for over $3,500 in scholarships and prizes. If you’re a female, full-time student at IU-Bloomington between the ages of 17-24, you’re eligible to compete for the title of Miss Indiana University 2013, a Miss America preliminary.

Besides representing IU at a variety of university and community events, Miss IU will compete for the state title of Miss Indiana in June 2013, which offers more opportunities for scholarships, plus personal and professional development, and, of course, the chance to move on to the Miss America pageant.

Competing in the Miss IU pageant gives students opportunities to show their talent on stage, to share their passion for a cause and to sharpen their poise and professional skills.

Contestants will compete in five phases of competition: private interview, talent, lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit, evening gown and on-stage question. Visit our requirements page to download contestant paperwork and see a list of requirements.

Each contestant must develop a platform and raise $100 for Children’s Miracle Network, the official philanthropy of the Miss America Organization. However, contestants pay no entry fee to compete in the pageant.

February 1 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for contestants to submit all their paperwork for the Miss IU 2013 pageant, which will take place Sunday, Feb. 17 at Willkie Auditorium. Contestants must complete their Children’s Miracle Network fundraising ($100) by Friday, Feb. 8.

Learn more about participating in the Miss IU pageant by attending one of our call-out meetings. Our next meeting will be Sunday, Nov. 11 from 2-3 p.m. in the Persimmon Room at the Indiana Memorial Union.

New to pageant competition or wanting some advice and coaching from Miss Indiana alumnae? We’ll also be hosting pageant preparation workshops at the IMU on Sunday, Jan. 13 and Sunday, Feb. 3. At these workshops we’ll help you prep for interview, on-stage question and evening gown/swimsuit presentation.
